It’s that time again, and this time I made it to the 5 week mark before breaking out the loc gel. After applying temporary hair color gel to my hair twice, spraying my hair with moisturizing mist, oiling my scalp, and of course sweating (I often cold sweat at night and especially from my scalp; it drives me nuts), I wanted to give my hair a deep clean.
I started off my spraying my scalp and roots with Dr. Locs Pre-Cleanse to help loosen and remove product build up. After saturating my hair, I massaged any spots that had build up to make it easier to shampoo it all out. I used a new shampoo for this wash day – Peculiar Roots Black Charcoal Shampoo. It smells so good! My hair was was crying out for shampoo y’all. The first lather didn’t lather up at all, but by lather #3, my hair and scalp were clean with all trances of product buildup, sebum, and oils gone. Yay! Even after lathering 3 times, my hair didn’t feel stripped or rough.
After rinsing my hair verywell, I wrapped it in a towel to soak up excess water, and grabbed my single prong clips for the main event. To retwist, I used Obey The Hold Loc Gel again. It provides so much hold (a little goes a long way) but is water soluble. It still takes me forever to retwist (just under 3 hours now) but I don’t mind. I may dread the process in the weeks leading up to wash day, but it’s actually kind of relaxing.
This time, I remembered to record my wash day this time and put the together a quick video to recap this wash day. Enjoy!
