Kreyòl Essence Haitian Black Castor Oil

Out of all the products and product lines I’ve reviewed on JGA, I am most excited about this line because it’s from my homeland!!!! When I found Kreyòl Essence on Instagram I screamed. Screamed! And I may have danced in my in seat in excitement. You would’ve thought I won the lottery, and in a sense I guess I did. I grew up with lwil maskriti. My mother applied to my hair and scalp while scolding me to stay still. My grandmother used it to massage my aches and strained muscles after track practice. It took all of 15 minutes for me click “buy now” and purchase a 3.4 oz bottle for $20. A bit, but worth it.

Two of the biggest reasons I’m excited about this product line and company is because it’s woman founded + led, and has a positive impact on Haiti’s economy and job sourcing:

“Women are the backbone of the country before and after the earthquake. However, women are also victims of gender-based violence and extreme poverty due to high unemployment. We want to bring more than hope to women. Through slow yet consistent growth, our business will create economic opportunities for women.” – Kreyòl Essence
“The revival of Haiti’s economy will come from job creation—not donations. Education, health, and poverty alleviation can all be improved when people have income and unemployment is reduced. This is what we are championing as a brand. The popularity of Haitian Black Castor Oil and other Kreyol Essence products will also help Haiti’s economy by stimulating its GDP; the country has had a trade deficit for decades and exporting will help to reduce the shortage.” – Kreyòl Essence

Finding Kreyòl Essence is a breathe of fresh air. The comes in four fragrances: [1] original (which smells like my childhood!); [2] chocolate, [3] rosemary mint, and [4] lavender hibiscus. I bought a bottle of the chocolate fragrance but the company through 3 small bottles of the remaining fragrances. Chocolate is my favorite – it smells just like brownies. I rubbed a drop into Joe’s shoulder and every time he turned his head he tells I have him walking around smelling like brownies.

I’ll be using this gem for scalp massages, hot oil treatments, and oiling my ends to prevent split ends . . . and to smell like yummy brownies all day. I’ll check in a couple weeks for a full review, or to tell y’all I couldn’t pace myself and bought the whole damn line (I’ve got my eyes on the HBCO Growth Shampoo & Conditioner Duo.

xoxo, Jen
