Wash Day | 2 Week Recap

Have you ever had all your days blur together? Studying for my upcoming bar exam is pretty much what my life revolves around at this point :/ I’m terribly sorry I’ve been so absent on my little slice of the web but I’ll back more regularly once the exam is over.

This wash day recap covers the last 2 weeks:

[1] Pre-poo by mixing glycerin + Creme of Nature Intensive Conditioning Treatment.
[2] Co-washed with As I Am Coconut CoWash Cleansing Conditioner
[3] Tea rinsed with green tea + rooibos + peppermint tea
[4] Wrapped my hair in a towel to soak up all excess liquid
[5] Applied HairVeda Sitrinillah to my hair and deep conditioning under my heating cap for 2 hours
[6] T-Shirt dried for about 20 minutes before applying my leave-ins (Kurlee Belle Thirsty Kurls + Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum), detangling my hair, and setting my hair with my curlformer dupes.

Oh, and I finally found longer curlformer dupes. The orange and pink curlformer dupes you’ve seen before are about 20 inches long. My new dupes, the yellow and blue curlformer dupes are about 23 inches long. I used a whooping 100 dupes… and still air dried overnight. Yup I slept with curlformers in like I always do. To make them more comfortable to sleep in, I slide the CFs down about 3/4 an inch from my scalp. This allows the CF to swing/move freely without putting tension on my scalp.

Gotta love CFs for how well they stretch my 19 months post relaxer hair

The rest of the week I wore my hair in a curly up-do with bangs.

[1] I started off by loosening my curls/detangling with another DIY detangler of marshmallow root and green tea + grapeseed oil + glycerin + lavender essential oil to mask the scent of marshmallow root (because I’m not a fan of it). After finger detangling, I applied HairVeda Red Tea Nourishing Conditioner on top for an hour.
[2] After rinsing out the conditioner, there wasn’t a tangle in sight *happy dance* I co-washed with Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk Cleansing Conditioner.
[3] Tea rinsed with left over marshmallow root + green tea.
[4] Wrapped my hair in a towel to soak up all excess liquid
[5] Applied SheScentIt Curl Moist Conditioner to my hair and deep conditioned for an hour under my heating cap.
[6] After rinsing out the conditioner, I t-shirt dried for 45 minutes, then applied leave-ins to my hair in sections ((Kurlee Belle Thirsty Kurls + Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum) and that’s it.

I didn’t have it in me to follow up with any my norms… no detangling… no curl formers… no stretching my hair via tension method. I was too tired. I DID apply aloe vera gel to my hair to smooth out the “outer layer.” As long as my hair was neat, I was happy.

For the next couple of days I rocked that same bun, only taking my hair down at night for comfort. Halfway through the week it was a battle to smooth my hair into a bun so I hopped in the shower, wet my hair and quickly conditioned with Aussie Moist 3 Minute Miracle. After squeezing the excess water from my hair with my hands, I applied aloe vera gel to hair and gently brushed it in.

After putting my hair in a bun and tying down my hair, I left it alone. It took forever for my hair to dry but I was okay with that, my hair was moisturized, bunned, and it was achieved with no muss or fuss #winning. It was also fun to see how textured my hair is without stretching it.

How was your recent wash day?
