Wash Day (Big Bun Fun)

[1] I started off with by detangling with my homemade marshmallow root detangler. After detangling with just my fingers, I decided to give Oyin Handmade Honey Hemp Conditioner another try. The last time I used Oyin’s Honey Hemp back in December I experience an uncomfortable stinging sensation all over my scalp. Needless to say, I’ve been in no hurry for a repeat but before parting ways for good, I decided to try it one last time. I almost didn’t even finish applying it to my hair. Just having it in my hair made my eyes sting and water like crazy. But crazy lady that I am, with just a quadrant of my hair to go I forged ahead and finished applying the conditioner. Once I had a plastic cap on my head to block the fragrance my eyes calmed down.

After an hour, the stinging sensation I experienced the last time started up so I called my pre-poo session quits and rinsed Honey Hemp out of my hair. Unfortunately it seems that Oyin Honey Hemp and I aren’t meant to be, which stinks because it did a great job at detangling and softening my hair.

[2] I co-washed with As I Am Coconut CoWash Cleansing Conditioner. My review is posted here.

[3] Tea rinsed with marshmallow root.

[4] After wrapping my hair with a towel to soak up excess water, I applied Silk Dreams Vanilla Silk Cream Moisture Dream to my hair in sections (my review is posted here) and deep conditioning for an hour with my Hot Head Conditioning Cap.

[5] After rinsing out the conditioner, I sprayed my scalp and hair with ACV + water mix, squeezed the excess liquid from my hair, and t-shirt dried my hair for 30 minutes.

[6] Working in sections, I applied my leave-ins (It’s A 10 Miracle Leave-In & Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum), detangled with my Magic Star Jumbo Rake, and stretched my new growth by simply holding it taut and blow drying it with cold air. Detangling and stretching my new growth took me 1 hour and 20 minutes.

I didn’t bother blow drying the full length of my hair. I finished air drying my hair in a  loose bun instead. As for attempting a perm rod again this wash: I tried it again but that 1 inch or more of hair that isn’t stretched or rolled into the rod gave me issues again so perm rods are going on the back burner for now. Maybe I’ll just save them for braid outs instead.

The next morning, being the serial bunner that I am, I pulled my hair back into a bun for the day. I applied a little Pura Body Naturals Murumuru Moisture Milk and hemp oil to my ends before bunning.
