Your hair is?… Relaxed (this includes texlaxed)

When and why did you start your hair journey?
I started my relaxed hair journey on August 25, 2013. I was natural for two years before. But I was limited to the styles and after two years I still wasn’t comfortable wearing my hair in its natural state.

What is your current regimen?
At this point my regimen is pretty simple. I wash weekly or co-wash weekly. I shampoo/condition with Carol’s Daughter Monoi. I co-wash with As I Am Co-Wash. After washing, I use Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Daily Treatment for at least 4 minutes. Next I t-shirt to get rid of excess water. Then I apply Paul Mitchell’s Super Skinny Serum and then I proceed to styling. I start off rinsing with warm water. But once I apply conditioner/DC I use cold water to close cuticles.

Do you have any hair goals? Have you achieved them?
I’m currently researching texlaxing. Though I love bone straight hair, I’ll trade it for healthiness any day.

What do you wish you knew at the start of your journey?
I’m learning patience is key! Healthiness is most important! I’m learning to listen to my hair. But most importantly, a clean scalp is a healthy scalp.

What are your favorite protective styles? Buns!!! 🙂

What are some of your favorite products?
My favorite product is Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Daily Treatment. I love the slip and softness it provides!

What do you love most about your hair?
I love its versatility! On lazy days, I can bun it. I can wrap it and wear it down. I’m a pony girl. While being natural, I definitely missed my ponytails!

How do you deal with people who doubt you? What motivates you to keep going?
I ignore them. Because I know without proper research, I would’ve thought the same thing. At one point, I thought black hair couldn’t grow pass a certain length.

What is the funniest or strangest hair related experience you’ve ever had?
Wow, the memories! I remember back in high school, if we didn’t have shampoo I would wash with conditioner, and my hair would feel so lovely! But if we didn’t have conditioner I would only use shampoo then blow dry on the highest setting :(. When I would go to a salon for a relaxer, I would convince the stylist to keep me the relaxer on until I would start burning so that it would take and I would get my monies worth. So clueless!
