Your hair is?… Relaxed (this includes texlaxed)
When and why did you start your hair journey?
Well, originally, I started taking better care of my hair back in October 2008. But even then, I didn’t have the knowledge I now have about hair. Since joining this site called Hairlista Inc., I been officially on a hair journey since May 2011. I started my hair journey because my hair was breaking faster than it grew. And I wanted to see if my hair can grow and be as thick as some of the ladies on Hairlista! So here I am with 4a/b thick BSB relaxed hair….and growing!♥
What is your current regimen?
I wash my hair 1x a week. Clarify 1x a month. I deep condition with heat for 30 minutes (maybe even longer) under a hooded dryer. Light protein bi-weekly and I trim whenever needed. One thing that I would like to practice is co-washing. I minimize heat to one time a month. And I protective style almost 95% of the time. Oh, I also moisturize and seal every other day.♥
Do you have any hair goals? Have you achieved them? How did you achieve them? How are you working to achieve them?
My goals are to reach healthy, thick, waist length hair. So far, I only have reached BSB/BSL. I plan to follow my hair regimen and to try not to miss a wash day in order to achieve. Also, I incorporated growth aids, such as Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Jamaican Red Pimento Oil, etc. in order to help speed up growth.
What do you wish you knew at the start of your journey?
Actually there are a few things I wish I knew about at the beginning of my journey. I wish I knew about protective styling, protein treatments, trimming, the works! I was actually afraid of cutting my hair because of fear that it won’t grow back, but to my surprise that was a misconception and my hair grew. So now I see how important trimming your ends are and how protective styling and protein treatments play a part in a hair regimen.
What are your favorite protective styles?
Buns! I love buns! They are pretty much the only protective style I wear. I tried braid outs, but seeing that my hair are in layers my braid outs aren’t really that cute.♥
How do you deal with people who doubt you? What motivates you to keep going?
Well to be completely honest…I don’t really have people who doubt me on my hair journey. Everybody who takes a look at my hair wonders how I get it that long and thick and I tell them what they could do and they just go with it or they try to practice what I tell them. Watching Beauty/Hair Gurus on Youtube motivates me into wanting to continue my hair journey.
