Promises: “Mocha Silk Infusion: A heavenly hair treat with a sinful mocha fragrance… complete indulgence that’s actually healthy (for your hair of course)! This super emollient silk protein conditioner repairs hair by reinforcing the cuticle with hydrolyzed silk protein, and emollients cocoa butter, cupuacu butter, and palm oil help to further pack and smooth the hair cuticle resulting in shiny, healthy, gorgeous hair. Coffee butter adds scalp benefits by increasing circulation. It is recommended that you use a moisturizing conditioner after using MSI, or a substantially moisturizing leave-in conditioner.”

Directions: Apply the treatment generously to your hair. Leave on for 20 minutes with a plastic cap or 10 minutes with a plastic cap and warm dryer. With a hair steamer, leave on 5 minutes with no plastic cap.

Ingredients: Water, Cetyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Persea gratissima(Avocado) Oil, Glycerin, Hydrolyzed Silk Protein, Coffea arabica (Coffee Seed) Butter, Palm Kernel Oil, Panthenol, Theobroma grandiflorum (Cupuacu) Butter, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Theobroma cacao (Cocoa) Butter, Cocoa Powder, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Germall Plus, Fragrance

My Assessment: Consistency: This conditioner has a smooth creamy consistency that is easy to apply and sinks into my hair. I hate, hate, hate conditioners that feel like they’re just sitting on my hair so I was pleased this one sunk right in. Fragrance: Smells a chocolate cupcake to me. I was a little tempted to lick it when I first opened up the jar lol. Packaging: I love jars! Y’all know this. I love being able to scoop every last bit of product. Number of uses per jar: I got 3.5 uses from the 8 ounce jar…. well I haven’t used the .5 yet. That little bit is still in the jar and I’ll combine with the next jar I buy. Effectiveness: My hair likes silk proteins and glycerin so I was excited to try this conditioner out. It rinses out really well and I like that it doesn’t leave behind any feeling of residue. The first time I used this protein conditioner I applied it, covered my hair with a plastic cap and then sat under my heating cap for 10 minutes. My hair felt stiffer after rinsing it out than when I apply the conditioner, cover with a plastic and forego using my heating cap (second and third times using MSI). However no matter which way I use it, I’ve gotten the same results: strengthened but still soft hair… but I prefer to use it without heat because if I can achieve strong yet soft hair without the additional stiffness, that’s the route I’m taking.  This is a light protein conditioner for me and I don’t think I’d use it as my mid-relaxer protein treatment (where I do a protein treatment before neutralizing the shampoo) but I will definitely repurchase and rotate for my protein treatments.

Have you tried this conditioner? Do you like it, love it, hate it?
