My Assessment: I was previously using Darcy’s Botanicals Coconut Lemongrass Transitioning Creme (DB CLTC) to moisturize my new growth by diluting it with water to make it sprayable but in order to make it easily sprayable, but the amount of water I had to add still made my new growth pretty damp, even though I made sure to use a minimal amount. I did a bit of digging on LHCF and found this product referred for moisturizing new growth quite a bit so I decided to take the plunge after reading a really positive review from an LHCF member. I started off with the 2 oz bottle to be on the safe side, but after a week I had to buy the full size bottle.

It’s very liquid-y. So liquid-y that sometimes when I’m careless with my application, it’ll drip right from my hair onto the floor… which makes me mad because I’m wasting good product haha. It’s consistency is much thinner than my DB CLTC spray but it doesn’t leave my new growth as damp as its predecessor. And it absorb very well.

Fragrance: it smells just like Waffle Crisp cereal to me, and I love it. When I first apply it to my hair, the scent isn’t too strong but it’s apparent. However, it doesn’t linger so I don’t have to worry about potentially walking around with my hair smelling like a yummy, hard to find, cereal.

And now onto the most important part, how well does it moisturize/how long does it moisturize. I focused using it on my new growth for all 2 days before I tested it on the length of my hair. This moisturizer makes my hair so soft and as a plus detangles my new growth.

To apply, I part my hair in 1-2 inch sections horizontally (starting at my nape) and spray it right on my new growth. When applying it to the length of my hair, I squeeze 2 pumps into my hand and apply to the length of my hair, working it in with my fingers. Even with spraying my hair with this product every day, my airdried hair still remains light and fluffy. For the last few weeks, I’ve been using the L.O.C. (liquid, oil, cream) method (you can read more about the method here) and have been using this as the first step and my hair is happy. Since using this on my new growth, I’ve noticed a noticeable decrease in breakage at line of demarcation. I’ve used this on 2 day old straightened hair and it reverts my texlaxed hair a little but not my bone straight ends, but it doesn’t bother me.

Have you tried this moisturizer? Like it? Love it? Hate it?
