30 Days of Protective Styling Wrap Up

August has come and gone and true to my challenge goals, I was a boring betty and used marley twists as my go-to protective style. Marley twists have made it super easy to tuck my hair away and avoid fussing with it.

Protective styles can be a wonderful way to – as the name suggests – protect your hair from breaking and over-manipulation. Buuuuuuuut, they can also cause harm. When installing my twists I take care to avoid doing the twists at my edges too tight. The edges on my left have always been thinner than the right, even when my hair has been at its utmost healthiest, but unfortunately the edges on my left have still taken a hit and have thinned out a bit ¬†over the last 6 months that I’ve been wearing my hair in marley twists.

I’m definitely bummed about the thinning, but I plan to take it easy on my edges while the thinned area bounces back.

I hope your month of protective styling has been a great one! What styles did you use? Were there any highs and lows?

And a huge thank you to everyone who signed up for the challenge and joined the link up!

  1. Hi jenny! I just love how full and healthy your natural hair is! #goals. I know you are probably bummed about your thinning edges, but I know some good ole TLC will bring it back in no time. What is your course of action?
