Wash Day | Straight Hair & Length Check

I started off by pre-pooing with Shea Moisture Intensive Hydration Conditioner for about an hour. After rinsing out the conditioner, I shampooed with Bobeam Coco Honey & Amla Conditioning Shampoo Bar. I normally co-wash but I since I planned to straighten my hair, I wanted to make sure I used shampoo to remove any oil/product build up. I opted not to use a clarifying/chelating shampoo because I didn’t feel like my hair had THAT much build up.

After shampooing, I tea rinsed with what seems like my favorite tea rinse lately: peppermint, rooibos, and green tea. Per the norm, I left the tea in after rinsing and wrapped my hair in a towel for 20 minutes to soak up all excess liquid.

Next, I deep conditioned overnight with SheScentIt Curl Moist Conditioner. The next morning I rinsed the conditioner from my hair and wrapped with a t-shirt for an hour. Sitting down to dry my hair with the tension method before flat ironing it, I applied my leave-ins (It’s A 10 Miracle Leave-In + a couple sprays of ApHogee Keratin & Green Tea Restructurizer to help strengthen my hair, and applied a few drops of my favorite heat protectant to each quadrant of my hair, Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide (discontinued).

Once my hair was dry and detangled… I stopped to catch my breath because my arms were tired lol… I flat ironed my hair with my HANA Titanium flat iron. Next, I grabbed my shears and cut off an inch. I’ve lost count how many inches I’ve cut off since I started transitioning to natural (I feel like I cut my hair every week), but my length is now the bottom of my bra strap.

I had to run out right after finishing my hair so no pics were snapped on day 1, or day 2… or 3. BUT here’s my hair on day 4!

As for maintaining my straight hair, I’ve been wearing it in the loose bun you see above at night for bed, and applying a few drops of Organix Awapuhi Ginger Dry Styling Oil to my hair when I take it down in the morning.I haven’t straightened my hair since August so it’s been awhile but I realized I really missed wearing my hair down…. just not enough to start using direct heat frequently. No ma’am.

How was your most recent wash day? Don’t forget to add your post to the link up below, you know wanna 🙂

  1. You did a great job straightening. I can't even tell you've got all that new growth in there!

  2. Looks great! How much of it is natural and how much relaxed ends do you still have?

    1. Jeni, your hair is now BSL!! Can't believe it but I know you'll have beautiful natural WSL hair soon.
I tried the Shescentit Curl Moist conditioner because of you, Jeni, and I have since dropped off Hairveda since then. Immediately I apply the Shescentit conditioner, my hair softens unlike the Sitrinillah which takes its time.

  3. Your hair looks very thick and healthy! I think your transitioning is going well! I can't wait for you to be fully natural! How do you like the "it's a 10"?

Thank you!! I like It's A 10. It's moisturizing, a heat protectant, detangles well, and its very light so it doesn't weigh my straightened hair down.
