Trip Down Memory Lane

When I first started my HHJ, I had to use a donut to fill my bun. In the photo below I used one of those mesh donuts you can find at pretty much every beauty supply store. This was my first bun back in March 2009. It took me forever to figure out how to spread my hair out to cover the mesh donut because my ends were thin and the mesh kept peeking through. I used to HATE buns, now I live in them. Go figure.

JGA used to have a different url (growingthroughpatience.blogspot.com) when I first started out as well.

  1. Hi Jen

I'm currently where you were in 2009. I hate bunning! I always feel like I'm forcing my ends into a situation they don't want to be in. Do you have any further advice or techniques on what NOT to do when bunning short hair.

Looking at your progress makes me seem hopeful though that its the right choice for protective styling.

    Regards,
    Thabi

  2. It seems hardly possible. That's visible progress right there. Awesome. Thanks for sharing.

  3. You don't need those mesh doughnuts anymore 😉 Your "real hair" buns put them to shame :D…I can't wait for my hair to reach where you are so that I can drop the wigs and rock those voluminous, classy buns that you wear –> sparkles in my eyes <—- 🙂

Whhaaa, you're already there! With your hair's length and thickness, bring out those big buns now! 🙂

  4. I like how you went from patience to just grow already! haha
