Why Use Amber Bottles

Annabel asks:

Hi Jen, I noticed in some pictures your oils are in dark burgundy bottles. I’m just wondering why you’ve rebottled your oils in these bottles. Where did you purchase them?

Hi Annabel, light degrades essential oils (e.g. lavender, eucalyptus, tea tree oil) and carrier oils like grapeseed oil. Amber bottles protect oils from light degradation by filtering out UV and blue light. I purchased my bottles from www.specialtybottle.com. They’re available in glass and plastic but I’m a bit of a klutz so I buy only plastic bottles.

I prefer the 8 oz Boston Round amber bottles pictured above (on left is bottle PAR8DB ($0.68) and on right is bottle PXA8B ($0.70)) because the applicator tips you see on them are from these Sally Beauty bottles ($1.89) and they fit the bottles perfectly.
