Your hair is?… Relaxed (this includes texlaxed)
When and why did you start your hair journey?
I started my hair journey in January 2013. I was just fed up with the constant breakage and frayed ends, so I –impulsively– chopped off ALL of my hair and was left with a buzzcut. I wouldn’t do it again but I decided that day that my hair going forward was going to be healthy. I’ve since decided to relax again.
What is your current regimen?
I work out 5x a week so I co-wash every other day and leave Fridays for my shampoo days. I moisture and seal daily and I am trying to speed up growth by taking Biotin supplements. I am also trying to drink 100oz of water daily but that’s been harder to pull off!!
Do you have any hair goals? Have you achieved them? How did you achieve them? How are you working to achieve them?
My hair goals is to have little to no breakage, and SL hair. Any hair longer than that, to me, would be a hassle. I haven’t achieved it yet but my hair is growing pretty fast and that does make me pretty happy!
What do you wish you knew at the start of your journey?
I wish I knew about all of these great relaxed hair blogs BEFORE I cut off my hair. I would have been a healthy SL again by now had I known. I would have learned the difference between a setback and a lost cause haha!
What are your favorite protective styles?
Right now, my hair is pretty short, so I don’t use any protective styles. When my hair gets longer, I hope to use mini braids of my own hair.
What do you love most about your hair?
I love how thick it is. Many girls with afro-textured hair have to use various products or styles to gain thickness. My hair, even when relaxed bone straight, is pretty thick naturally.
How do you deal with people who doubt you? What motivates you to keep going?
Blogs like yours keep me going!!
What is the funniest or strangest hair related experience you’ve ever had?
I thought that cutting my hair would be a huge traumatizing experience. But it hasn’t been so bad. Most guys don’t mind short hair as long as its styled. Women actually applaud me being so “bold”. I think everyone should have short hair once in a while, to learn how to appreciate it when their hair actually grows!
