S-Curl Moisturizer: It’s A No

The smiley face in the pic pretty much sums up how I feel haha. I’m not a fan of S-Curl. I’ve used it 3 times this week on my new growth. When I first apply it, it feels like it just sits on my hair. It doesn’t effortlessly sink into my hair the way other moisturizers work on my new growth. The next morning, my hair is still damp — and mind you I do not apply a lot of this stuff — but my new growth feels soft and moist. Yeah well, it doesn’t last. By the end of the day my new growth feels so darn dry, and coated to top it all off. Dry AND coated? No thank you. I’m not even going to bother giving this stuff and 4th or 5th try :/ Let’s treat this post as S-Curl’s product review because it’s not going near my hair again. *Sigh*

Update: The bottle of S-Curl I have is new formula. I didn’t use S-Curl before the formula changed so I can’t compare the two, but from poking around the web and hair forums, I get the feeling the old formula was better. Here are the ingredients for comparison:

Old Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Propylene Glycol, Acetamide MEA, Ceteth-20, Olealkonium Chloride, Stearalkonium Chloride, Panthenol (Provitamin B5), Simethicone, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Fragrance.

New Ingredients: Deionized Water, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Propylene Glycol, Argan Oil, Olive Oil, Acetamide MEA, Ceteth-20, Oleakonium Chloride, Stearalkonium Chloride, Panthenol, Simethicone, DMDM Hydantoin, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance, Benzyl Benzoate, Linalool, Benzyl Salicylate, Limonene, Coumarin, Alpha-Isomethyl lonone.

  1. I wouldn’t worry about getting the old formula. Because parabens are of the ingredients listed in the old formula.:-(
