Wash Day

(1) Pre-pooed with Hair Trigger on my scalp and safflower oil on the length of my hair

(3) Coffee rinse.
(4) Protein treatment with Silk Dreams Mocha Silk Infusion.
(5) Wrapped my hair in a towel for 15 minutes to soak up the water from my hair (I never apply conditioner to soaking wet hair). Deep conditioned with steam (review here) using Silk Dreams’ Vanilla Silk Cream Moisture Dream conditioner.
(6) Wrapped my hair in a towel for about 30 minutes. When my hair was about 70% dry, I applied my leave ins: Silk Dreams Wheat Germ Butter Conditioner and KeraPRO Anti-Frizz Serum. I’ve had this serum for forever and a day and figured it’s about time I used it. Then I detangled my hair.

(7) After detangling, I finished drying my hair in a bun.

I did a protein treatment this wash because around this time (9 weeks post relaxer) is when I would normally prep my hair with protein to relax the next week. This was my first time doing a coffee rinse and using Silk Dreams’ Mocha Silk Infusion. First impressions: I liked the coffee rinse, it didn’t make my hair stiff then way tea does and I had less shed hair when detangling. I liked the MSI as well. It’s not a thick as Vanilla Silk Cream Moisture Dream but it sinks in on application, smells nice, rinsed out well, and my hair felt strengthened when I rinsed it out. My hair felt a tiny bit stiff but I expect that from all protein treatments.

I’m considering braiding my hair (box braids) for a few weeks because I kind of want a break from my hair but eh who knows. I haven’t had box braids since 2002 and my wimpy tenderheaded scalp gets so sore sooo who knows.

I’ll be living in bun city for the week while keeping my hair moisturized and happy.
