Wash Day

[1] Pre-pooed with Hair Trigger on my scalp, coconut oil on the length of my hair. I’ve used coconut oil on the length of my hair for the last 2 weeks because it helps work out any tangles I have before I shampoo my hair.
[2] Shampooed with Redken Hair Cleansing Cream Shampoo to clarify and remove any mineral deposits from my hair. I haven’t clarified in a while (since February 7th) so it was time to grab this shampoo to really clean my hair and scalp.
[3] Tea rinsed using green tea and peppermint tea mix. I kind of want to get new teas to switch it up but this mix has been working very well for me. It feel attached to it lol.
[4] Applied Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Daily Treatment for 5 minutes then rinsed.
[5] Deep conditioned with my steamer using Silk Dreams’ Vanilla Silk Cream Moisture Dream (you can check out my review here). May the ingredients of this conditioner never change because my hair loves it!
[6] Wrapped my hair in a towel for about 30 minutes. When my hair was about 70% dry, I applied my leave ins. I went with a new leave-in conditioner this wash day: Soultanicals Knot Sauce and applied a little bit of Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum. Since I plan on stretching longer than I normally do, I purchased a detangling leave-in conditioner a few weeks ago – Knot Sauce – to help making detangling easier because around 7 weeks post is when working with 3 textures starts getting tricker. So far, I like Knot Sauce. Detangling was a breeze, I was able to finger detangle with this leave-in before turning to my combs, and it left my hair soft and fluffy – not weighed down in the least.
[7] After detangling, I applied aloe vera gel (a post on Smoother Edges Part II coming up soon about this AVgel) to my edges, brushed it in a little, and tied my hair down with a silk scarf to let it hair air dry.
The next morning, my edges were neat, my hair was soft and fluffy, and I was happy.
How was your most recent wash day?

P.S. I haven’t forgotten about the request to record how I detangle. Didn’t feel well when I washed my hair yesterday  so I’ll record it next week.

  1. I co-washed! tried to do a flexi rod afterwards but got lazy so I thrown it in a bun!

  2. Candice…my husband says don't worry since I com only once a week but my hair has grown 3 times as much when I permed every 6 weeks. Things went south when I got successive scalp burns, which created hair loss. I am praying for real progress by the end of the year and I hope the same for you.

  3. Peeblesf, you're not alone! I was trying not to stress about it since I only comb my hair once per week but it seems that I'm still shedding a lot :/

  4. DARN! I was SO hoping that you DIDN'T like the Knot Sauce. It has been on my watch list for a couple of months and I have been debating if I want to give it a try. *Sigh*…I guess I'll wait for the next sale and pick some up.

    1. Jeni is there a reson why u choose this over the Mango Dip Detangling Slip as its richer in its ingredients

Age, it took me months to commit to purchasing it haha.

ContactLucy, nope there isn't, it's just the one I decided to purchase.

  5. Hope you feel better soon, Jeni. I got my hair trigger in the mail this week so I pre-pooed with it for the first time yesterday. Stinky but I can tell the difference already. I am recovering from major damage after a sew-in so I'm hoping the HT will help.

  6. I cannot understand why I have about twice the amount you have in your and in my shower. Then when I detangle I have about three times that amount. I began my HHJ last march at NL and I am now reaching past my shoulder. A real conundrum?????

I'd have a lot more shed hair if it weren't for the garlic, onion, and black tea in Hair Trigger and the tea rinse..they're the only things saving me haha.

  7. Hi Jeni – you're turning me into a PJ (I've tried a few of the products you've used with great results 🙂 Question, do you usually wash your hair 1x or 2x? I usually only do 1x to avoid excessive manipulation but I'm just wondering if that's enough. Thank you as always for your amazing posts 🙂

I've been accused of being a PJ's nightmare LOL!

Do you mean whether I shampoo twice on wash days or twice during the week? I only lather up once on wash days.

    2. oopsies I wasn't clear – I meant do you lather up once or twice on your wash days?
Also – do you love the Soultanicals hot sauce? I've had it on my wish list for a while but haven't decided it I should buy it yet. Thank you 🙂

Hi Olivia, sorry I thought I had responded to your second post but going through my comments saw that I didn't — I lather up once. I don't love the Knot Sauce. It's okay, but it doesn't wow me. Kinda wish I didn't buy it because it's not a necessity for me.
