My Assessment: I was previously using Darcy’s Botanicals Coconut Lemongrass Transitioning Creme (DB CLTC) to moisturize my new growth by diluting it with water to make it sprayable but in order to make it easily sprayable, but the amount of water I had to add still made my new growth pretty damp, even though I made sure to use a minimal amount. I did a bit of digging on LHCF and found this product referred for moisturizing new growth quite a bit so I decided to take the plunge after reading a really positive review from an LHCF member. I started off with the 2 oz bottle to be on the safe side, but after a week I had to buy the full size bottle.

It’s very liquid-y. So liquid-y that sometimes when I’m careless with my application, it’ll drip right from my hair onto the floor… which makes me mad because I’m wasting good product haha. It’s consistency is much thinner than my DB CLTC spray but it doesn’t leave my new growth as damp as its predecessor. And it absorb very well.

10 weeks post relaxer

Fragrance: it smells just like Waffle Crisp cereal to me, and I love it. When I first apply it to my hair, the scent isn’t too strong but it’s apparent. However, it doesn’t linger so I don’t have to worry about potentially walking around with my hair smelling like a yummy, hard to find, cereal.

And now onto the most important part, how well does it moisturize/how long does it moisturize. I focused using it on my new growth for all 2 days before I tested it on the length of my hair. This moisturizer makes my hair so soft and as a plus detangles my new growth.

To apply, I part my hair in 1-2 inch sections horizontally (starting at my nape) and spray it right on my new growth. When applying it to the length of my hair, I squeeze 2 pumps into my hand and apply to the length of my hair, working it in with my fingers. Even with spraying my hair with this product every day, my airdried hair still remains light and fluffy. For the last few weeks, I’ve been using the L.O.C. (liquid, oil, cream) method (you can read more about the method here) and have been using this as the first step and my hair is happy. Since using this on my new growth, I’ve noticed a noticeable decrease in breakage at line of demarcation. I’ve used this on 2 day old straightened hair and it reverts my texlaxed hair a little but not my bone straight ends, but it doesn’t bother me.

Have you tried this moisturizer? Like it? Love it? Hate it?

  1. Do you use this on the length of your hair as well as a daily moisturizer or just on your new growth? I just ordered a bottle 🙂

HI there, I focus it on my new growth. Because it's very liquid-y and I prefer creamier moisturizers for the length of my hair. I hope you like it!

  2. Tried to order this product today via their website…but alas it's not working…there is a problem loading page…any thoughts…is any one else having difficulties as well??

    Excellent it!

  3. I just recently ordered the Komaza moisturizing spray for my NG and I have only used it twice. Maybe its just my hair but I have never felt my NG sooo dry and cruncy and it felt so brittle after I used the Komaza moisturizing spray. It was like I never sprayed it on my NG and it came out very dry and cruncy both times. I'm still going to give the spray like 1-2 wks to give a chance. But again maybe its just my hair.

    1. My NG felt the same way except it also felt dirty. And when I used it on my hair it made it feel coated and stringy. Did it end up working for you?

  4. Great post. I started using s-curl but I don't care for the smell too much. I can deal with my hair smelling like waffle crisps. Lol

  5. I ordered both the Califia Moisturizing Spray and the Coconut Curl Hair Lotion in 2 oz sizes. So far, I'm liking them both–especially the Coconut curl hair lotion–it absorbed right into my strands. The Califia Moisturizing spray is so soothing and made my ng incredibly soft. Thanks again Jeni!

  6. Hey Jen, Its Enexitstageleft from LHCF

YAY! I'm glad you liked it. I positively STAN (absolute HG) for this stuff. They recently underwent an ingredient change, so I will be ordering a full size bottle of the new formula (the one you have) soon. My bottle lasted me close to 10 months (I dilute it w/ distilled water). I use it everyday to do a modified LOC method (LCOB/P) and still have more then a 1/4 of the bottle left, so a little definitely goes a long way. I tried this as a leave a couple times paired with the Califia Leave In…Worked Marvelously, but then gave me a bit of moisture overload; so I slacked off lol. I tend to just use the pair when in dire need of some serious moisture. Anywho, thats enough of my raving lol.

Hi there! It was your LHCF review that pushed me to order it, thank you! 🙂 I wish I had bout the Califia Leave In instead of the Aloe My Hair Leave In even more now because Aloe My Hair makes my hair so stiff! :/

  7. When you used the Darcy's Lemongrass Creme, did you find that your hair was hard when you air dried? Definitely want to try this Komaza spray, the ingredients look really good!

Hi Shauntel, it has never made my hair hard.

  8. Awesome Jeni! You have a reference code.YAY. I'm planning on purchasing the Hair Analysis with Komaza. I'll be using your code.. If you don't mind!

  9. I've been debating between this and the Aloe My Hair moisturizing spray from them. They both look like they would perform well..maybe I'll just purchase the sample size of both and see what works

    1. Author

I have a trial size bottle of the Aloe My Hair Moisturizing Spray and it doesn't moisturize my hair as well as Califia does, but no two heads of hair are like so getting a sample size of each would be helpful.

  10. I haven't tried it. Living in Canada it's hard to buy most of the haircare products I read about. I can always buy them online but I have enough hair products to last me a year at least.

Hey, I BOUGHT YOUR BOOK in the Kobo edition, this morning!!I checked yesterday evening before going to bed and bought this morning. I started reading it on the subway and have the tablet with me to read during my breaks 🙂

  11. Great review, I'm gonna order the small bottle to test it out on my new growth. I've been looking for something to replace the S-curl I normally use on my new growth. Thanks Jeni!
