By now, if you’ve read my other reviews you know I’m pretty picky when it comes to scents. Strong fragrances trigger migraines for me so I try to avoid products with overpowering, lingering scents, because who needs a migraine while doing their hair? I love the way this conditioner smells because it smells just like vanilla cake batter to me! The scent is soft, appealing, and doesn’t linger after rinsing it out.
I was able to get 4 uses out of one 8 oz jar (this might be a helpful reference if your hair is the around the same length or longer, thickness, density). Regarding its consistency, it’s very thick when it’s scooped out but soaks right into my hair on application. To be honest, when I first used it I wasn’t sure it was going to be all that effective because in my mind, it didn’t feel like I actually had conditioner in my hair. Turns out I was wrong. After using it for a month straight (I use it after I shampoo, applying it to damp hair and using my heating cap for an hour), it has consistently moisturized my hair, leaving it so soft and fluffy once dry (how the hair feels when dry is the true test). It makes my hair so smooth, and y’all know I love smooth hair! I’ve also found that I do not need to moisturize and seal as frequently during the week because my hair is so well moisturized from deep conditioning. Lastly, it rinses out well; it doesn’t cling to my hair at all.
Packaging generally isn’t one of the things we considered when purchasing a product, but I always appreciate companies that put their conditioners in jars AND fill them to brim! I like getting my money’s worth and jars make it easier to scoop out every last bit of product. When products come in bottles and tubes, I will not hesitant to tear them open with scissors to scoop out what little is left. Jars simply remove that destructive step haha.
The creator and owner of Silk Hair Dreams is a member of LongHairCareForum.com (Supergirl) and was actually one my first hair-inspirations when I first started my HHJ. She provides great customer service. One of the items I purchased during the last sale wasn’t in the box so I sent her an email about it. She answered the same day, apologized for the slip-up, shipped out the product the next day and gave me a free shipping code. I appreciate great customer service!
Overall, I like this conditioner and plan on keeping a jar (or 3 . . . #judgmentfreezone!) in my stash. I bought a jar of Silk Dreams’ new Avocado Pudding Silky Conditioning Cream during the last sale. Hopefully it’s a winner just like this one.
Have you tried the Vanilla Silk Cream Moisture Dream conditioner? Like it? Hate it?
