Reader Q & A: Hair Color, Protein Overload, Henna

This is pretty short post but I just wanted to answer a couple questions readers left in response to the survey I had floating around at the bottom of the screen last month. I didn’t forget about you 🙂

Q: Have you ever colored your hair?
A: No I haven’t. In high school I flirted with the idea of dying my hair black, but I’ve come to love my brown and natural highlights.

Q: Have you ever tried henna?
A: Sure have! But I’ve actually tried cassia, neutral henna that does not dye the hair. Here are the links to my posts about it {I Tried Cassia Obovata Today!} and {Follow Up On Cassia Treatment}

Q: Protective style spotlight?
A: My protective stlying choices are honestly a little boring. I mostly just grab a goody claw clip (with the soft gel on the inside of the “claws” and pin my hair up. That’s my go to 80% of the time, but I also bun and occasionally do a braid out, that’s it! BUT I’d love to posts submissions on the blog —–> {Submit For Reader Spotlight!} you know you want to share with us! 🙂

Q: Products without protein?
A: Here are the products that I use that aren’t protein focused: Paul Mitchell (PM) Super Skinny line, PM Super-sharged moisturizer (deep conditioner), PM Instant Moisture Daily Treatment, Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose (deep conditioner), Kenra Moisturizing Conditioner (deep conditioner), Giovanni Smooth as Silk line. If you’re experiencing protein overload, it’s time to focus on moisture. When I’ve focused too much on protein, I avoid using products that contain protein, deep condition weekly with heating cap, and moisturize and seal my hair nightly or every other night. I usually do a strand test after every deep conditioning session to test the elasticity of my hair to track how my hair is recovering from the protein overload.
