I didn’t wash my hair with the Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger treatment as I had planned. One, the products did not arrived yesterday and was going to wait for the weekend but I had a horrible migraine yesterday and washing my hair usually distracts me and helps relieve the pain so I went ahead and grabbed my shampoo and washed my hair. I had wanted to wash my hair and do a protein treatment, hence my original game plan, but turns out I had the necessary products to show my hair some protein love.
For protein, I washed my hair with Organix Coconut Milk Shampoo and applied Coconut Milk Conditioner for 5 minutes. Both of these products are organic, sulfate free, and smell divine I might add. Quick product blurb from their website: Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner is an exclusive blend of organic coconut milk to nourish your hair, while ultra whipped egg white proteins add strength and elasticity, along with weightless coconut oils to add hydration and balance. The luxuriously creamy, foaming, hydrating formula leaves your hair feeling clean, glowing, softly scented and super soft.
After I rinsed out the Coconut Milk conditioner, I applied my now beloved Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Treatment for 5 minutes to smooth and detangle my hair. I just couldn’t go through my wash without applying it because after shampooing and applying the conditioner my hair wasn’t as soft or tangle free as it usually is. That isn’t a negative criticism against the Organix Shampoo and Conditioner though, I’ve merely washed my hair the PM Super Skinny line for weeks and have grown used to how it leaves my hair feeling. After I rinsed out the Super Skinny Treatment, I applied Roux Porosity Control for one minute, then deep conditioned with GVP version of Nexxus Humectress Conditioner. This was actually my first time using this deep conditioner and debated with myself if I should use it. I deep conditioned under my heating cap for 30 minutes, let my hair cool, and rinsed with cool water. I’m not sure how I feel about the GVP Nexxus Humectress yet. My hair wasn’t super soft, it just normal. *Shrugs*
I next applied my usual leave ins and air dried my hair, placing a satin scarf over my shoulders to avoid the risk of breakage with my ends rubbing against my cotton t-shirt. When my hair was about 70% dry, I applied PM Super Skinny serum to small sections and detangled. I let my hair air dry until about 90% and used the blow drier to dry my damp roots. Once dry, I flat ironed my hair and I must say I love, love, love my Sedu flat iron. The temperature was set to 260 degrees and it only took, one pass of the iron to get my hair smooth. With other flat irons in the past, I would set the iron on a higher temp and still have to do two or three passes. Although I do not flat iron my hair frequently, I do not regret purchasing this iron at all. My hair felt so sleek, smooth, and I dare say it just felt healthy (not enough to sell me into using direct heat though haha).
When I took down my hair this morning it was light and soft. Loved it! I’ll be making sure I moisturize my hair well this week since I used direct heat. It will get weighed down a bit but I don’t really care about that because I’lll be bunning until my next relaxer touch up in four weeks.
