My Assessment: For the life of me I don’t know why I waited so long to try out this line but I’m happy I made the move and did. I love the Super Skinny line. I lather my hair twice when I wash and after the second lather some shampoos leave my hair feeling stripped and just TOO squeaky clean – the Super Skinny Shampoo does not and it love that. The shampoo itself smells lemony but faint, it doesn’t really have a smell to me and is clear but not runny. Right after I wash, I apply the Super Skinny Treatment from root (especially deep into my stretch) to tip. It smoothes my hair and makes detangling by finger combing so easy because it provides great slip. After I run my fingers through my hair to apply it, I leave it in for about 4 minutes then rinse and proceed to deep condition as usual. My most recent 10 week stretch was my best relaxer stretch thus far and the only thing I did differently was use this line. I had less tangles and my hair was much more manageable. The most noticeable thing is how smooth my hair feels – not a cuticle raised. I love this line.

With smiles,

  1. Hi Jenijen, I noticed that the ingredients in your shampoo contains sulfate. I have read many articles which claims that sulfate strips the hair of natural oils, leaving it drier. What is your perception on this? I am very confused, because I do not know whether a sulfate or non-sulfate shampoo is beneficial for hair.

    Thanks.

Hi Georgina, I personally do not mind sulfate shampoos. I've learned that not all are created equal. I've used shampoos that contains sulfates that my hair just hates (KeraCare clarifying shampoo) but I also have sulfate shampoos that are staples: Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Shampoo, Redken Hair Cleansing Cream. There are some ladies that swear by shampoos that contain sulfates while there are others that avoid them at all costs. No two heads of hair are alike. The best suggestion I can offer is to try it out. The research we do provides us with knowledge but the only way to figure out what works best for our hair is (unfortunately) through trial and error. If you try it and sulfates aren't for you, I suggest following up with a good moisturizing deep conditioner to combat any dryness/stripping the shampoo may cause. I hope this helps!

  2. I knitter this us all kinds of late but…..
I finally bought the conditioner. I lobe the serum so I'm sure to love the condish.
Can't wait for my next wash day.

  3. This is a great post.I think it will be very usefull to us. I read it but I need some thing more to know about this. How can I know about this.

  4. My pleasure! I've been eyeing the SSBalm for months, I might it when I'm further along in my stretch. A 6 month/year update is a good idea, I'll post one around mid-summer. Take care!

  5. Thanks so much for posting this, because I've been eyeing this one for a long time. I really love the super skinny serum and the super skinny relaxing balm ( you HAVE to try it- its great on wet new growth!!) so I thought this should be just as good. What kept me from doing it is the reviews, which is something I should have probably looked over, being that they were reviews for caucasian hair. Thanks a bunch girl, please have a 6 month or year update on these products. I'll be looking forward to it! -Ciao*
