Week 1: Wash 1

Products Used:

  • KeraCare (KC) 1st Lather
  • KC Hydrating Shampoo
  • KC Humecto
  • KC Leave-in
  • KC Setting Foam
  • Spectrum Unrefined Coconut Oil

  1. I pre-poo’d with coconut oil. I warmed up the jar in warm water to liquify it, poured into an old (and thoroughly cleaned) DooGro bottle to make it easy to apply it to my scalp. I also applied some to the length of my hair and the ends. I then massaged my scalp and sat under hooded dryer with plastic cap on for 20 minutes.
  2. Shampooed with KC 1st Lather.
  3. Following by KC Hydrating Shampoo, twice.
  4. Deep conditioned with KC Humecto with heat for 30 minutes.
  5. Detangled hair using running water while rinsing out my hair.
  6. Covered hair with plastic cap.
  7. Applied KC leave-in and setting foam and set on magnetic rollers.
  8. Sat under dryer for 1 hour.

Results My hair came out much much softer than it does when my hair dresser washes my hair, with very little breakage on the comb. Unfortunately, the rollers and pins I order (Annie’s) have not arrived yet so I was stuck using these crappy rollers and pins. I tried to make sure my ends were placed on my rollers straight as I knew the rest of my hair would come out puffy – and it did. Even with horrible rollers (and the face that I’m absolutely horrible at roller setting my hair) it didn’t come out as bad as I thought it would. Because it didn’t dry as straight as it should have, the hair caught on the comb a bit. Post-Wash:

  • Removed the rollers.
  • Applied ORS Olive Oil, Oil Moisturizing Hair Lotion
  • Sealed moisturizer with coconut oil.
  • Wrapped hair and covered with scarf

Overall, my hair felt soft and I didn’t walk away with an extremely sore scalp from the pins and tightness of the rollers when my hair dresser sets my hair. I’ll have my new rollers and pins in time for next weeks wash so my set will be better next time around (not accounting for my lack of roller setting skill)… practice makes perfect! *** I wish I had taken pictures of my mess of a roller set but I just wanted to wrap my hair and get away from the puffy curls

Hi Shahri, it means treatment you apply to your hair prior to shampooing. It could be oil or conditioner, to prepare the hair for shampooing, give it a boost of moisture, protein.
